Maximizing Well Unit Performance at UEC with Real-Time Data Visualization

Uranium Energy Corp (UEC) deployed an Operations Command Center powered by InterKnowlogy, replacing manual investigations and daily reports with real-time visibility across its Wyoming mining operations. The result: faster issue detection and targeted corrective action to keep production running at peak efficiency.

Client Summary

Uranium Energy Corp (UEC) is America’s largest and fastest growing uranium mining company. With assets across Wyoming, Texas, Canada, and Paraguay, UEC’s success depends on maximizing production from extensive networks of in-situ recovery (ISR) wells. To achieve this, UEC sought a better way to monitor well performance in real time—tracking flow rates, ore grade, and anomalies across sites—to quickly identify underperforming wells and take corrective action that safeguards output and profitability.

Client Challenge

UEC’s operations teams lacked a real-time way to monitor well performance and identify issues quickly, relying on daily reports that required manual investigation and often delayed corrective action.

  • Pinpointing the true source of a problem meant pulling well network maps, confirming they were current, calling or emailing field operators to cross-check data, and sometimes sending staff into the field to verify sensor readings.
  • A single underperforming well could reduce the output of an entire unit but isolating it was guesswork without a clear view of the entire mining operation.
  • Variability in performance across wells was difficult to assess, leaving operations uncertain whether an issue was localized or systemic.

The process slowed investigations, limited visibility, and made it challenging to keep production running at peak efficiency.

Partnership in Review

InterKnowlogy deployed an Operations Command Center powered by IK Enterprise Insights, transforming how UEC monitors and manages well performance across its entire mining operation.

  • Visualize site-wide performance and drill down to individual wells in near real time.
  • Isolate underperforming wells before they drag down overall production.
  • Distinguish between localized well issues and broader systemic imbalances.
  • Prioritize corrective actions where they have the greatest impact.

With a clear, data-driven view of well performance, UEC’s operations teams moved from manual, reactive problem-solving to faster, targeted interventions that keep production on track.

Outcomes

  • Time Savings: Investigations that once took hours or days are now resolved in minutes.
  • Operational Efficiency: Rapid detection and corrective action keep underperforming wells from dragging down entire units.
  • Decision-Making Confidence: A command center view aligns site-level performance with production goals, focusing resources where they deliver the greatest impact.

Building on the success in Wyoming, the company plans to expand the Command Center to its Texas operations.
